Aww! It wasn't your fault! I ate like a COW for my first, gained like 80 lbs (I KNOW, right?!) and my daughter came out skinny as can be. She was almost 8 lbs. I thought for sure she was going to be HUGE!!

Im a radiologist in training, and yes, as a pp said this fracture usually happens with a "difficult birth". But it will definitely need 2-3 weeks to heal, and request an x ray to make sure it is healed. Your baby should be fine

you will feel the callus for several weeks after that, it might seem huge to you but it will smoothen with time and disappear!
the bone is so soft at that age, it does only break partially, and bend nicely.

(My DD had a green stick fracture
Of her clavicle at 10months, it healed in 2-3weeks, then had an x ray to confirm it was healed. Now 3weeks later she still has a small bump (the callus) and it still gets smaller and smaller, and no complication whatsoever.)

Don't worry too much, and enjoy your baby! It'll be fine

My son collar bone was fractured during the c-section. I had massive scarring around my uterus from a previous surgery and even with 2 obs working on me they almost didn't get him out in time.

As far as I can tell he was not in pain directly from the collar bone but he had painful medical conditions as a newborn so I can't be 100% certain. I never noticed any difference at all, no lumps or anything. He is 8yo now and it has't caused any problems. The only reason we knew it was fractured was because he had to under go tons of testing for other issues and it was picked up when they did a full body MRI on him at a few days old.

My baby (who is now verging on age 2) was 10lbs 7oz at birth. His shoulders were stuck during delivery (shoulder dystocia) and as a result he also had a broken clavicle. The pediatrician said he would heal completely since he's so young and he did!

He really didn't have any problems from it, I think it may have been sore, but it seemed to quickly heal. Don't feel guilty, it's not your fault. I hope all is well with your sweet little guy. Enjoy him!

When my daughter was young, our neighbor boy had a large pointy lump on his clavicle from a break that wasn't set. They didn't know it was broken until much later (years) but, He was an extremely small boy...very, very skinny, and it was so obvious to people because he was so thin. When he and my dd would play rough, I worried about her hurting him because he looked so frail.

They did not think it was something that happened at birth. They think it happened somewhere around age three or four. (I guess he was that kind of kid who was always breaking something)

Anyway...he's 21 years old now... has bulked up his body a little and I saw him at the gym last night in a tank top, and you can't see the bump at all. He's still lanky, but not as frail...so, it is either under muscle and fat, or he outgrew it, or it just went away. I bet he hasn't even thought about it in years.
