Imaginext vs. Playmobil

My 3 youngest are ds 8, dd 7 and ds 6. The 2 boys have quite a few Imaginext. I've been seeing all these Playmobil thread and it got me thinking as I try to come up with ideas for Christmas. Are my kids too old to start with Playmobil? Would you just continue with Imaginext? Or do both? I have a MIL that loves buying things for Christmas so I need to have plenty of ideas. We are just starting them with Legos but I need to make sure they can take care of them before I begin to buy too many.

Re: Imaginext vs. Playmobil

My ds2 will be 8 in January and loves Imaginext. I just ordered his first Playmobil for Christmas. My ods does not own any toys like these anymore (he thinks he is too old) but he will play with ds2's sometimes. I say especially with you still having a 6 year old it is not too late to buy Playmobil.

I am getting my daughter some playmobil for xmas and she will be 6 at the end of January. I think that is about the age when most children can really begin playing extensively with them.

Re: Imaginext vs. Playmobil

My DS is 6 and loves both Playmobil and Imaginext. He also loves his Legos. I would say these are the 3 things he plays with the most so not too late I don't think. In fact both my 6 year old and 2.5 year old are getting both for Christmas so there is a wide range I think.

My 5yo is just getting into playmobile, and I think it will (hope it will) stick for a while. So I think that the 6yo (and then secretly the older ones) will enjoy it for years to come!
