wool cw question

So I know some of you plan on using knit wool or have with other kiddos and so I have a question. I have always used solid color yarn to knit my shorties and longies. This time I found some beautiful yarn that was dyed in (with?) a colorway. It started pooling which I was ok with, but then the pooling started patterning. I hate it! But when I look on fsot it seems like thats what people like? Is that how they are "supposed" to look (patterned pooling)?

I really wish I had a skein of solid that matched to break it up. Actually I am really wishing I had found a pattern that used linen stitch. I am almost done and cant decide if I should frog it...

Re: wool cw question

Some colorways will pool, some won't. Some people are okay with it pooling, some aren't.
If you're not, I would frog it - annoying as that would be! I know some people will cut off and restart along the colorway, to stop the pooling. Some people just have 2 skeins that they work with to prevent it. It's hard to tell what the yarn is going to do until you're actually knitting it up, though, so it's hard to plan ahead.
If you were wanting a different pattern/stitch anyways, I'd frog and remake them - there's still lots of time before you'll need them.
Or you could also make them a size bigger? Sometimes a different size will make the yarn not pool at all.

Re: wool cw question

Thanks!

Here's the finshed project. This is with me pulling from the inside and outside of the skein and then randomly mixing up which rows with which strand. I'm still not happy with the pooling, but at least its not patterning. I think I'll leave it for now (without weaving in the ends) and think about it.

ETA: actually looking at that pic on my actual computer... I think I'll frog it. I love how the waist and first couple rows turned out, but the rest just doesnt do it for me. Since its the only pair of longies for this newbie I want to be happy with it.

I don't think they're that bad - I've definitely seen worse on here! But if you're not happy with them, then I would definitely frog and redo. You have the time, and you want to really love them!

I think they look really good. I will admit that pooling doesn't really bother me

Oooh, I feel your pain, I can't stand pooling!

I've done custom orders before and it's beyond frustrating when it starts to pool or flash even when you are alternating ends/skeins. I only have 1 yarn so far not need to be alternated.

You could just frog the legs, the rest looks good.

DDC: I dislike pooling as well. I agree with you that the top looks great. Most of the gals who knit for me use two skins to prevent that from happening. I do love your colorway, it's pretty!

The body looks great to me, but if they were mine, I would probably redo the legs.
