Oohhh...I'd love to know this, too! My mixer (NOT a KitchenAid) died in April, and I am soooo lost without it! Definitely going for a KitchenAid this time around...

I've always heard KA has lifetime warranty on the motor. If that's the issue, you should be able to get it fixed. If its the gears (which is more likely), is an easy fix at home for about $40. Search YouTube for videos. There's tons out there. More than likely, it's fixable.

I don't think there is a lifetime warranty anymore. Maybe the old old Kitchen Aid mixers had them, before Whirlpool bought them out and decreased the quality of the parts.

Yup, just checked. They have a lousy one year warranty now.

Lame. Bosch is looking more appealing all the time.

Either way, the gears go out more often than the motors do and they're pretty easy to replace. Working in kitchens, I've seen many a KA go toe up and it's always been the gears.

For sure! I was just reading about the Bosch at this website to compare the two, and I'm saving for a Bosch for sure! http://healthykitchens.com/aos_onlin...868&ca_id=1084

I agree. I would try to fix it before replacing it. Its a nice piece of machinery and may just need a repair vs throwing it away.

Amanda . Blaming my phone for typos and crap.

I don't know how long you can wait, but it seems like there are usually some KA deals around Black Friday.
