Re: What are you using for curriculums?
5th grade
Math-Saxon Spelling-Spell By Color LA-Scott Foresman 5th grade grammar Reading-free choice novels and McGraw Hill literature book History-Lesson Pathways Science-Mr Q Life Science 2nd Grade Math-Math to Learn, Learning Number Concepts with Unifix Cubes, manipulatives Reading-Funnix2 (comprehension portion) LA-we are supposed to be doing Scott Foresman but we aren't, I am encouraging him to at least try to do free writing or journaling once a week. I did a complete overhaul of his curriculum at the beginning of the year when he decided that he wouldn't do any school work, this is our compromise. I read classic literature to him daily. History-Lesson Pathways Science-Mr Q Life Science Extra-Dog Training PE-TKD for both and roller derby for Tharen (2nd grade). I am seriously considering changing to a waldorf style curriculum but I'm not sure if that is possible at this point or how hard it would be. We have changed our curriculum style so much this year already and I know it needs to change more for both boys to get the most out of their education.

Re: What are you using for curriculums?
My son is 3, almost 4. I am using Flowering Baby age 3-4 as my jumping off point for daily ideas. Language wise he seems to have passed where FB age 3 suggests (matching letters to objects, which we now sometimes do for review/practice) and is sounding out CVC words on his own. I'm using what I learned from spending a few years teaching RIGGS to informally as the situation arises teach phonics, and really jumping off the ideas in "Teach a Child to Read With Children's Books". His birthday is coming up, so I'll be getting Flowering Baby age 4, and at least Kitchen Table Math, probably something more depending on his interests, and of course keep plugging along as he shows interest in reading. Really I'm into following my child's cues. For kindergarten I already own and plan to use as my jumping point Living Books Curriculum Foundation Years.
