breastmilk banks

Hi, my friend is in need of a milk bank and i don't know anything about them. i only know about private donations. Does anyone know how to go about finding one in IL? i'm searching but a lot of the ones i find are only for preemies or sick babies her baby isn't sick. thanks!

All the ones I know about are for sick or pre-term babies. I'll check around. Is she interested in personal milk donations?

Many donors will provide testing information. The only difference is the milk is not pasteurized but there are ways to do it at home if they are concerned.

"Screening" is nothing more than blood work, which most moms get during pregnancy.

You cannot (to my knowledge) get breastmilk from a milk bank without a dr's script. Even then, if insurance doesn't cover it, it ends up over $1000/month for enough for the breastfed infant.

yup that's what i just learned. so she said he'd be willing to let her get it from a private donor with a blood test which you are right, is done during pregnancy so yay, i'll bring that up thank you!
