Wide base seats

I currently have a freehand Mei tai and a becco Gemini and I have heard the seat should extend all the way to the knees. Mine doesn't on my 8 month old. Does that mean he is outgrowing them?

I'm not sure about your Mei tai but the Gemini stopped supporting my ds to the knees by 4.5 mo.

I don't think it necessarily is great for bigger babes, we just got a Manduca which is much more supportive for a bigger babe

I actually don't find many SSCs that comfortable for very long because I'm petite with a short body, all straps are too long and they seem to hurt my neck. The Manduca is okay when I wear ds on the back but on the front not so great. It's mainly dh's carrier and was his early Xmas gift He loves it and in our circle of baby wearers it's everyone's favorite.



This was one we borrowed before DH decided he wanted one, I think ds was about 4.5 mo and 17 lbs here, the Gemini was starting to get too small but you can see how the back is opened up all the way (it unzips) and comes up nice and high, and the body and seat are nice and wide and support baby fully.

Love the manduca! I used to have one and am sad that I let it go. You can only buy used ones in the US though which is why you don't hear about them as much.
