Re: Elecare Questions

Glad you got approved. Elecare is the go to Rx for many kids with extremely severe reflux, severe multitude of allergies and/or intestinal/ malabsorption problems. I actually suspect she may do better with Elecare.

Elecare was our miracle for the first 3 years for DS. . He now is on Peptamin Jr, which makes Elecare look cheap. But he's worth it!

I hope so, she was up every hour last night again. I haven't slept for more than 3 hours in a row for a very long time. Usually we are up every 1 to 1.5. I called the pharmacy to find out when we might receive it since they usually send it, apparently the doctor hasn't sent the prescription to them yet. I'm going over to the doctors office in a few hours to personally pick up that prescription and bring it to the pharmacy to pick up the formula. I hope it helps her sleep. I doubt the polyvisol with iron is helping her, we're going to stop that. Her iron was low, but rainbow light powder with iron is supposed to me much more gentle on the system. Maybe once we start the elecare her iron will go back to normal. They think it's due to trace amounts of blood being in the stool.

Re: Elecare Questions

Last update! We started it this afternoon. I premixed 30 ounces in a Dr. Brown pitcher. We tried it without flavoring, but she didn't like it and wouldn't drink more than a sip at once. So I mixed in 1TBS of Alcohol Free Vanilla in with the 30 ounces and she will happily drink it. Her rash is already clearing up!!! I plan on reducing the amount of vanilla some next time.

Re: Elecare Questions

We had to start thickening her formula some because she would reflux while eating and then refuse. So we do 1/4 tsp per ounce and it's working pretty well. We've been using Happy Bellies oatmeal since it has pre and probiotics. I thought we could stop once and did multiple feeds without it, but then she spat up very sour smelling stuff that I'm positive was stomach acid.

She's teething up a storm right now though, so not eating as much. I can feel the tooth just under the skin, if only it would pop through.

ETA, oatmeal did not agree with her. So.we use earths best rice cereal. She is one happy baby now!

Re: Elecare Questions

I'm searching old posts right now for info about Elecare. Our DS is about to start it once we can get the samples picked up from the GI clinic. He's on Nutramigen now, but spits up all day long and has horrible eczema. He had a scope done as well as blood work about both showed signs of allergies and low iron. Glad to read the trick about the vanilla. I may have to try that!

Are things still going well with it OP?
