Re: Play food - plastic, wood, other?
i prefer wood food, it lasts longer, doesn't look as cheap as some plastic food, but is more expensive. we're also getting DD cookware for Christmas, and i'm going to make a bunch of felt food. pastas, veggies, pancakes, all stuff you can easily make by cutting and felt.

Re: Play food - plastic, wood, other?
DS's favorite right now is Melissa & Doug felt food sandwich set. He loves to build us sandwiches and serve them to us on the frisbees he found in the dog's toy basket.
![]() I made very cute bowtie pasta out of felt for DS and he plays with that a lot as well.

Re: Play food - plastic, wood, other?
We have Melissa and Doug and I do not recommend that for wooden food. The sandwich set is actually okay, but all the other sets seem to chip really easily. The paint completely peels off if the food gets wet (not that it should anyway, but my kids thought they needed to "wash" the vegetables when I was tending to the baby) and the condiment set has big chunks broken out of it. My kids don't play hard with the food and it is less than a year old.

ds has wooden fruit with velcro and knife and also the cloth veggies from ikea. the cloth ones get way more play time.

Re: Play food - plastic, wood, other?
My Kids have some plastic but my plan is to slowly crochet them replacements as I get yarn scraps and time.

We prefer the rubbery plastic play food.
