Your thoughts on tossing toddler in air?

I'm just curious on what other people think of this? I'm talking about a dad (or other strong person) tossing a young toddler up in the air. Do you think it's safe? How high is too high? Just wanting other people's opinions. Thanks!!

Re: Your thoughts on tossing toddler in air?

It makes me nervous, but I don't say anything. DH doesn't do it often and sometimes I do tell him not so high. DH is 6'1" so he is limited on high he can toss anyway- he can stretch and touch a child to the ceiling. They like that too.
ETA: I actually worry more about brain trauma/shaken baby/whip lash more then being dropped or the height. But then dd has low muscle tone and didn't have really good neck control until she was over 2. DS is more average with size and muscle so I don't worry as much for him.

Re: Your thoughts on tossing toddler in air?

Our 11 month old loves it when DH tosses him in the air, never more than an inch or so out of his hands. Might not be safe but he sure does love it.

Love it (assuming responsible precautions taken) - great prep for future adventures like sliding, diving & rollercoaster-riding.

Makes me nervous, but it's a form of daddy rough housing.
