I think he is weaning self :(

The last couple of days DS has barely nursed from me. When I have offered, he nurses for just a minute or two and then is done and wants to go do other things. He is 15 months on Monday and I wonder if he is done BFing. I am not ready if he is

Re: I think he is weaning self :(

My daughter self-weaned at 15 months and I wasn't ready either! Just look at it as a step toward independence, as bittersweet as that is. Hugs, Mama! And to make you feel better, she will be two next month and still hasn't outgrown the snuggle time. <3

My twins self weaned at 16 months. Admittedly, I wasn't producing much milk anymore. I think they lost interest because of the lack of milk. But, it was sad for me too.

Hopefully, yours is just going through a phase and will pick it back up.

Thanks, mamas. He is my sweet baby boy who is very attached to me and I think I am just afraid we will lose that close bond. Hopefully, it is just a phase

You won't lose the bond even if he stops nursing.

I have nursed 4 now 3 extended nursed.
They all go through stages like when they learn a new skill or discover something is temporarily more interesting. This is probably a great time to wean if you are wanting to. Otherwise just continue to offer.

Until I saw the last post, I was about to post that I think it could just be a phase....if he nursed well today, perhaps it is! I think around that age they start to be more independent and explore. He may continue to sometimes have "off" days; both of mine have had those. Good luck!
