Feeding stored milk on the go?

I am about to start pumping and wanted to get advice before i jump in with the pump investment...

How do you keep the expressed milk safe for days out (shopping, running errands, etc) so I can feed it to my daughter when she is ready?? Do I just use the cooler and put back anything unused in the fridge if its still cold??

Thanks in advance!!

If you are going to be out for around three hours in a temperature controlled area I don't even bother with a cooler. Breast milk will stay good at room temp for several hours. I usually take a bottle that has refrigerated milk in it so it will last around three hours.

If I'm going out, I usually pump right before we leave and take that milk. Freshly expressed milk can stay at room temperature for 4-6 hours. Then I don't have to worry about it being too cold for my LO

If it's fresh, and not out in the hot sun (stays normal temp), then you're fine. If it's thawed from frozen, use a lunchbox/cooler with an ice pack.
