With my dd it was a combo of kneeling over a chair, and standing and leaning over the chair.

Re: push position

My older two girls were my unmedicated births. With both I pushed in several positions to start with but ended up only having progress when I finally got flat on my back.

Re: push position

I had an epidural with DD#1. This time, I started pushing on my side, but hated it. I sat in the semi reclined position and had DH and my nurse help me pull my legs back. Trying in another position didn't even cross my mind. I had planned on trying to use the birthing stool, but I didnt even think about it.

Re: push position

My midwives had me try a number of positions, but the only one that felt comfortable was lying on my back, semi reclined with legs curled up. Ill try other positions again this go around, but suspect Ill deliver on my back again :-)

Re: push position

With my first I was semi reclined in a hospital bed. With my second I had an epidural. The third was no epidural again, that time I was sitting straight upright at the very end of the hospital bed. My most recent was epidural again.

I was semi reclined with dd1, but was in hospital, and that want my choice. dd 2 &3 I ended up on all fours. I went into my labors thinking I would like to squat, but thats not what my body wanted in the moment

Re: push position

With #2 I my natural inclination was to squat, but was told to get up on the hospital bed. So with #3 (a homebirth) I specifically asked for the birthing stool. And sure enough, when it came time to push, I wanted to squat. With #4 he slid out of my body as I scrambled onto the bed on my hands and knees. No pushing necessary.

Re: push position

I actually pushed in out the the semi reclining position. At one point I went flat on my back with a cushion under my pelvis though to help him get into a better position. I did push some on the toilet and hands and knees in the early pushing period. I hated being on my side. I tried it for like 30 seconds and said nope!
