Re: Do you offer your nanny paid days off?

Hmm. I feel like a scrooge not paying any vacation time, even though it is what we agreed when she was hired. We hired her with a guarantee of at least 25 hours/week regardless of our work own hours that week. But our nanny is going out of the country for 2-3 weeks around Christmas, so I feel like we should give her a bonus of 50 hours (which would be like 2 weeks at 25). Does that sound fair? Or like too much? It's $600 which looks pretty painful now that I type it out. Eeeks. She deserves it, but that's just a lot of money for us.

Our kids go to daycare. We pay a set amount each week. She takes holidays asmpaid if they fall during thenweek. She takes 2 weeks paid vacation each year. She rarely takes more than one day off at a time. We pay if they are there or not. We love our daycare and the boys love going.

Sincewe pay no matter what the boys usually go even when. We have a day off work unless we are taking a vacation or a family day.

Most families in our area give paid holidays and sick leave standard to their nannies. When I was working FT, a family member watched DS and we paid her the same thing monthly, regardless of how much she worked. We also have her extra around Christmas.

Re: Do you offer your nanny paid days off?

My mom is my daycare, so I don't have to pay her.

But, if I had a nanny, I would just pay a set monthly salary. We all need to be able to depend on our income. DH and I are both paid bi-weekly, so I would pay said nanny bi-weekly too. The daycare centers around here make you pay whether you are there or not, and it is just a weekly fee. The one SIL works at was even open on Black Friday for families to drop the kids at 6 am and go shopping.
