What do you put in the sippy cup??
Braelynn is only 6 months, so we have just started trying the sippy cup, but today she went nutts over it, and can even pick it up off the highchair tray buy her self, so should I do a few ounces of water a meal, or put breast milk in it...I won't do juice untill she's older.

Re: What do you put in the sippy cup??
If you put breastmilk in it she *might* go on a nursing strike and want ONLY the sippy. and that is a huge pita! Water will help her get used to it without taking away from the breast (after all, sweet breastmilk tastes a lot better than water)
Juice is really a load of unnecessary sugars and it's good you plan to wait on that. |

I have a 6 month old DS and I give water in the sippy. I think it helps prevent constipation while their tummies get used to solids.

Re: What do you put in the sippy cup??
DD is 11 mo old and we now do water and water/juice. I feel like a horrible parent because she still drinks formula from a bottle, I am on the search for the perfect sippy this weekend. DS was drinking breast milk and water from a sippy at 6 mo.

Re: What do you put in the sippy cup??
I should add that my DD didn't actually drink from a sippy until 11 months old though, I had breastmilk in it and she went on a week long nursing strike after that. I first introduced it at 6 months and she wanted nothing to do with it.

Re: What do you put in the sippy cup??
Madeline gets water and Almond Milk in her sippy cup (she is 19 months). She won't drink BM out of it
she knows where that comes from and wants it right from the tap!!! She didn't start with a sippy cup till she was over a year old...it's been only a few months since she has really gotten the hang of it.
