Birthday party on a weekday?

Has anyone had a birthday party on a weekday?

My son is turning 3 at the end of this month and I'm trying to figure out a time to have a birthday party for him. I work weekends, and I wouldn't be home until 6:30 and he goes to bed around 8. Because it's the holiday season now there is no way I can leave early... So I was thinking about hosting a party on one of my weekdays off (Wed or Thurs) so that I had time to enjoy it, and so we could do it early enough that DS wouldn't be tired and crabby - but am I basically setting myself up for no one to come?

For us? Yes. And have attended several during the day. I prefer them because weekends are family time.

That being said... It works for us and our friends because we are all SAHMs... I'm not sure how it would work otherwise.

Well, only you can really answer that. I personally wouldn't have an issue because I am a SAHM. But people who work aren't exactly going to be able to take off to come to a party. Maybe you'd be better off just doing a sort of playdate instead? Or you could just do something amongst your family. He's so little anyways, so it wouldn't make a difference to him IMHO.

Having fewer people is excellent. I married on a Sunday for that reason.
We recently had a party on a Thur night to celebrate our DD's habit breaking.
She wanted to invite a ton of people and we did but because it was a weekday fewer were able to make to a 5:30 party so it worked out well.

I'd go. I hate doing things on weekends.

I would but I'm a SAHM with no school age kids. If I worked or had kids in school I likely wouldn't come.

I work so we wouldn't be able to come. If you aren't inviting siblings, moms without childcare won't come.

Re: Birthday party on a weekday?

That would be fine for me and what most of our friends have done at that age. But I'm a SAHM and almost all of the kid's friends have a SAHP too.

If it was during the day, then yes, I'd prefer that over a weekend.
