Mr. Seahorse by Eric Carle. He is 7 months old. His second favorite is a board book of baby faces.

Re: What is your childs favorite book right now?

The ones I have to read to my 17 month old every single day:
- Harry the dirty dog
- The circus ship
- Madeline
- Bubble Trouble and/or Down The Back Of The Chair
- Mr Brown can moo, can you?
- A bit lost

I had to hide brown bear, brown bear because I couldn't bring myself to feign enthusiasm for it anymore. The one good thing is that both she and I have got those books memorized, so when she wakes me up at sparrow's fart, I can mumble the words with my eyes shut, and she can join in at appropriate moments with words she knows. Cold comfort.

My 1.5 to loves the Sandra Boynton books. The belly button book is a huge hit. And Elmos where's puppy books (target $1 section). Even my 4yo loves finding the dog. If you give.... Series is another good one. Any touch feel books and Brown bear, Brown bear....

this is how DD is with 'green eggs and ham'. but luckily, she likes Daddy to read that one best. So, I roll over while she prods him 'ham! ham!'

Re: What is your childs favorite book right now?

DS1 is 26 months old and loves:

Cat in the Hat
Madeline
Dooby Dooby Moo
Hop on Pop
Go, Dog, Go!
Planting Seeds (a board book with bunnies)
What Is Green?

My toddler cracks me up. Now that we've had Go, Dog, Go for a while, he yells, "Stop, dog, STOP!" anytime we drive up to a red light. LOL!

I second getting books that rhyme. Also, if he knows any letters or numbers yet, he'll probably love reading books with numbers and letters for him to identify. Farm animal books are also a win!

Re: What is your childs favorite book right now?

I have a 2 year old. He loves:

The Grandpa Book
Roadwork
My Puffer Train
The Goodnight Train
B is for Bulldozer
Digger Man
Little Blue Truck
Animal Alphabet (horrible, we make up the words)

I just asked him his favorite book and he said "I don't know!" Flipping through them all he said "How about the bears one? Or the mummy one? No, this one (llama llama). No...."

Re: What is your childs favorite book right now?

My 8yo DD is into Just Grace books and classic fairytales especially Grimm tales and Aesop's fables.
My 5yo DS loves I-Spy/Look & Find books of any kind. He also loves non-fiction books especially human anatomy, with real pictures at the microscopic level, and books on weather.
DS2 will be 3 in December and is obsessed with Dr. Seuss (he asks for Dr. Boop a lot) and David Shannon.

Re: What is your childs favorite book right now?

Curduroy is a favorite right now. We also love The Story About Ping. Time for Bed, for a good rhyming bedtime book. I am also looking to add new titles. And have added Stranger in the Wood but DS hasn't taken to it yet. I will keep trying as it is a wonderful book. We have about thirty books upstairs for bedtime and have gone through most of them. We have so many books it is hard to keep up. I need a better organization style. Anyway, will be checking in for new titles!

ETA: looking to add Little Blue Truck, a story added by a previous poster.
Can't get DS to sit still for On the Night you were Born. Beautiful book but he has no interest
