Nursing strike
My baby girl is cutting 4 teeth right now and has not wanted to nurse in 2 days. Like cries and throws herself back when I bring her to the breast, it's so brutal. She will take a bottle of pumped milk but I really hate pumping and I just want her to nurse again. Part of me wonders if it was my fault since she started to bite the other day and I kept unlatching her when she would and then the next day bam no nursing. Anyone been through this? Any advice?p.s. I am sitting here pumping while I wish I was sleeping...grrrrr takes so much longer to pump.

Re: Nursing strike
My DS has struck for a day or so a couple of times. It is difficult not to panic about it.
Don't blame yourself about the biting and unlatching--you can't allow her to bite you and still have a good nursing relationship! My DS reacted a bit that way when I yelped after he bit me once, but he got back into nursing.Kellymom has some good ideas for encouraging baby to nurse again: http://kellymom.com/bf/concerns/child/back-to-breast/

Seems like its over yay!!!! She has been nursing all day today. What a relief, makes me appreciate being able to nurse so much more.

Seems like I may be having the same problem with ds, who is 5 months. He is def cutting teeth, but for about 3-4 days he nurses for maybe 5 min and then thrashes and screams and I put him to play he is fine for 10-15 then crying again. He does ok at night but has also been waking every3 hours at night to nurse but only does for a few min and then back to sleep, but won't take a pack instead.
It's so very frustrating to see him react that way when I try to feed him, and I just hope it's over soon!
