Diaper Swappers

I should preface by saying we have a doctor's appointment on Wed. But I'm a paranoid parent, so interested in hearing some ideas.

My 9 month old son has a spot on his left calf. I noticed it a month or more ago when he was in the Beco and his pant leg was up. I remember feeling it and thinking oh he must have a little pimple or something. It was small and unassuming. I kind of forgot about it though I recall feeling it a few more times but again, it was small and I assumed a stubborn little pimple. Then, the other night I was changing him and noticed it. It was much larger, perhaps triple in size and it seems to have a dark centre. It's puffy and feels a little dry or crusty on top but doesn't appear to be anything in it like a pimple.

Here are a couple of pictures. Thoughts? There are no others on his body.

ETA: I'm in Atlantic Canada so no weird bugs!

Looks like a spider bite to me but it does seem like a long time for it to be growing still.

My knee-jerk reaction is MRSA (or just a routine staph). My oldest had MRSA when he was 3. I thought it was mosquito bites at first, but they didn't go away and developed a head like that. After draining them and a round of antibiotics, it went away for a while. Then it came back and they had to drain them again and do another round of antibiotics. Then it went away for good.

I would dab some Weleda diaper cream on it. It will go away within a day or two.

I use it for everything and it always gets rid of whatever I put it on.

Is it centered around a hair follicle? I was thinking a staph infection too, like a boil or foliculitis
