Favorite BLW first foods
What are some of your favorite BLW first foods?
We won't be doing most grains... and solids are coming up fast for our little girl. Just looking for a variety of ideas.

Re: Favorite BLW first foods
We've been doing BLW for about 1 1/2 months. Here are some of our regulars:
roasted sweet potatoes (sometimes with garam masals spice), parsnips, carrots pan fried or steamed broccoli (FAVORITE - good for dipping in yogurt), zucchini, squash banana, avocado, plums, nectarines, apples (cooked or raw once they have a couple teeth), steel cut oatmeal, watermelon, baguettes (FAVORITE), tofu scrambled eggs full fat yogurt with mashed avocado or cereal in it (we put it on a spoon and hand our boys the spoon and they shove it in their mouths ... or on their faces!) Good luck! |

Re: Favorite BLW first foods
Meats: beef--DD's first food was piece of tri-tip roast, pork (ribs are a nice size), chicken (drumsticks are great as they're easy to hold), etc
Veggies: sweet potato sticks, carrots, broccoli, zucchini, asparagus, pretty much anything we were eating. Fruits: peaches, pears, apples (I usually gave raw and she gummed on them because she didn't have teeth, she quickly learned to "scrape" the fruit off of the peel with her gums and she'd give me back the peel), avocado (a little hard for baby to grab, so we didn't feed as much as I would like), nectarine, strawberry, plums We did a mixture at first of mushy-type foods like plums and firmer ones like apples. Meat was by far her favorite for a long time.

Re: Favorite BLW first foods
We started with sweet potato wedges (with black pepper and chipotle - my daughter loved spices), baked chicken cut into strips, cooked carrots, raw cucumber, potato wedges, steak (she sucked on in more than chewed, but she loved it).
Within about two months she was eating what the rest of us ate.
