Re: How often do you see your doctor or midwife?
Over weight women are at a higher risk for fetal demise is what she said. I just can't imagine how bad an NST would have to be for them to induce earlier than 39 weeks any way? I looked at the calender and am willing to go every 3 weeks for the next 2 visits and then every 2 until 36 weeks. I am usually pretty mouthy with the medical community but I am afraid to piss then off and have them not treat me at all.

Re: How often do you see your doctor or midwife?
This is what my appointments are with my current midwife. I don't remember exact numbers for my other pregnancies, but starting weekly visits at 32 weeks does seem a bit early.

I don't like that at all. Unless there are other things going on with baby, I wouldn't be doing those NSTs. What a pita that would be!Quote:
Boo on them.I'd sit down and discuss it with them, explain to them how things went with your previous pregnancies with a different care provider (try to remember! ) and see what they say. If they're stuck on all those appts and NSTs... I'd be going back to where I had been previously, or finding another care provider.

Re: How often do you see your doctor or midwife?
She was willing to speak to their doctors about it. I am kinda stuck. I have precipitus deliveries and we will NEVER make it to the next closest hospital. We only have 2 practices here to choose from and I left the other one because they combined with a doctor that I do not like and I would have to see him and possibly have him for delivery. I am pretty anti hospital/crunchy and did consider having a homebirth with a dear friend who is an RN and has experience in deliveries but she decided she was not comfortable. As much as wish I was crunchy enough for a UC I just don't feel secure enough and DH is very concerned about him being responsible. I would be ok agreeing to 1or2 NSTs but weekly is too much and I do not feel comfortable having all of those ultrasounds. Thank you for the support. I am feeling a bit lost.

Re: How often do you see your doctor or midwife?
I go A LOT. I got away with 2 4 week intervals in the 10-18 week range. I have been going every 2 weeks since 18 weeks, have I more 2 week space and at 29 weeks will be seen weekly with NST 2 times per week.
I also have a growth scan every 4 weeks...next one is tomorrow, and will start BPP I am guessing at 32 or 34 weeks...1 weekly. In other words, 2 monitoring appts per week along with 2 visits, one with an MFM for the last 2 months. I have had multiple high-risk complications in my last few pregnancies and have been on insulin since week 14.

Re: How often do you see your doctor or midwife?
Wanted to add.....the midwife might just want the extra appts to get to know you better since you are coming into the practice late. Also I don't think there is any solid evidence for a high BMI--stillbirth link. I would ask her for a study to back that up and make your decision from there.

Re: How often do you see your doctor or midwife?
Oh I didn't just switch to them. I started with them at the first visit. I don't know how you do it Jen. You have a larger family than we do. It is just so time consuming. If our baby were at risk or my health was a true concern I would be far more willing to follow the protocol but I feel like it is over kill.
