Thanks everyone for some great info. We have those 3 in one jackets each layer alone isn't very bulky but when theres the fleece and the outer layer together it seems super bulky. I'm thinking I'll just unzip their fleece's and then have their coats in the car with us. Were not out much but DD has school in the afternoons m-t and I can't send her with just a fleece since they play outside. We try and keep the car in the garage so it wont take long to warm up but when were out its a different story. Its going to be an interesting adjustment thats for sure! When we visited my parents in Texas last year we just needed a fleece since it was only windy.

I'm not doubting that they compress. But using a different metaphor still does not prove the point. You'd then have to prove that the force of a space bag is the same as the force of impact in a collision at some point.
I just wish there were actual crash test videos available.
