skip stuffing pockets - lay insert inside?
Ok,
So i'm expecting a baby in the summer and the thought of stuffing a zillion size xs pocket dipes has me a little stressed. (babies do go through a ton of diapers.) do you think it's ok to instead just lay the insert on top of the pocket? i'd only do that with my minky inserts, they seem super soft and i can't imagine they'd be bad against a babies skin. anyone ever done this before? bad results/good results? |

I think minky is fine against the skin but you may still go through just as many because babies usually poop a lot. What about grabbing some prefolds or flats and cover? They really are not that scary once you get the hang of it.

Re: skip stuffing pockets - lay insert inside?
well... i already have all my xs dipes. i went a little crazy. i know i'll go through just as many changes, it just seems like it'll be a lot easeir to set the insert in vs having to stuff every diaper. keen1981 why wouldn't you?

Re: skip stuffing pockets - lay insert inside?
I found inserts moved if not buttoned in & leaks. I would just get pefolds if u don't want to stuff. & use as cover but u would need to change both at every change though anyway that way. Plus I didn't feel minky inerts really held much.

I love minky when paired with something else but alone I find they dont hold a lot.

They might move around a bit. Just make sure you never put microfiber directly against the skin.

Re: skip stuffing pockets - lay insert inside?
I did that, but my pockets were made to either stuff or lay-in. It worked well and I reused shells several times before poops or pee wicked onto the shell.
I used natural fibers or stay-dry-topped inserts, so didn't have microfiber right against skin. As others have pointed out, during the day you are changing so often anyways that no material is going to be against them for long!
