How to help a 5.5yo improve his attitude?

My ds has a really bad attitude sometimes. I've talked to him about attitude determining whether you are a happy person or a crabby person, and together we've made a lot of progress. There are times when the attitude slips though and he's just a big grump about everything. It makes me sad that he spends so much time being crabby.

Any suggestions? Books I can read with him? etc?

I need help with this too. My 6 year old ds is so crabby all the time. The only time he is tolerable is when we are bribing him with some new toy or thing. It's really getting on our nerves. He's just not a happy person to be around.

DDs teacher talks about "filling your bucket". Doing nice things fills the bucket. Being sweet fill my bucket.

A bad attitude is a bucket dipper.

It is really helping in our house. I ordered the kids Fill Your Bucket version, but its not here yet.
