We have all of them, and my almost 5 year old DD loves them!

The sequels have nothing on the original, but the first is always a big hit with little ones. I love it, too.

My kids find it too scary. But they have anxiety issues.

My ODD has been watching it since she was about 18 months and LOVES it! Coincidentally she is obsessed with dinosaurs.

(I remember watching it when it came out in the theatre...I think I was 4 or 5)

Ginger mama of 2 gorgeous ginger babies (DD-4 and DD-15 months) Sent from my iPhone (which definitely thinks its smarter than me) using DS Forum

Re: The land before time: movie?

I have never let ds watch movies where the mom dies. I don't know what it is with movie makers making movies for children and killing off the mom. I remember watching the land before time and crying because I was scared of my own mom dying.

i know! it was so great when it was on netflix! my ds is obsessed with land before time. unfortunately, the original is hard to find on neflix and in libraries, etc so he's watched the sequels more than the original, cause they're everywhere. they suck though, imo. ds was just stalking around our house "rawring" at his baby sister like a sharp tooth the other day. he really had the walk down good! and she thought it was hilarious!

Re: The land before time: movie?

I loved it as a kid.

But now, I'm worried it will just be sad to see Little Foot's mommy die.

I'm just too hormonal to even think of introducing it.

Same with Lion King and the scene where Simba's dad dies. Oy.

I'm too emotional I guess.

Re: The land before time: movie?

haha, thanks for all the replies guys. yeah, DS is 2 and not scared of anything or sensitive to things on TV. Movies don't bother him at all, and unless it was really inappropriate I don't censor him from watching things that are sad (IE: the mom dying). I'm glad to hear it's still a hit with kids. It was so long ago that I remember watching it that I can't remember much about it.

Re: The land before time: movie?

I LOVED it when it came out, and wasn't impressed when the sequels started coming out. I remember laughing that they had #4 because that was soooo many. lol and now there are many more on top of that.

My friend's DD with developmental delays absolutely loved it at 4, and she still loves it at 9. I even found some realistic puppets and they are her favorite toy when she's visiting.
