Re: car seat options for a tall toddler?

Sorry I just realized it was an evenflo TRIBUTE we also had in addition to the Eddie Bauer- the Tribute was our fav, but the airline lost it. Should I just get another tribute - or are they too basic?

That's the one we have, and we love it. Straps below the shoulders for RF, and above for FF Easy to get them in and out RF, and fits GREAT.

Are you in the US?
It would be illegal to use a Canadian seat in the US.
Also, we have a much bigger selection of car seats in the US, at lower prices. I don't know of any car seats available in Canada that aren't available here for less money. But there are lots of seats available here that aren't available in Canada.

Assuming for the moment that you do NOT live in the US and therefore Canadian car seats are really your best bet...

What is your new budget for a car seat? Seats are all pretty expensive in Canada. Would this be an option? :

The reason I'm asking about it is because it has harness covers which might help prevent the squirming-out problem. I know how frustrating that is because I have a squirm-out-of-the-straps toddler myself.

I am in the caribbean, looking to spend around $200 if possible. So should I got for this one? http://www.toysrus.ca/product/index....uctId=11862920

We'd want to use it for travel as well too most likely.

That's a pretty nice seat. It has a 36" rear facing height limit, but frankly the same seat in the US has a 40" rear facing height limit and a lot of people in both countries feel perfectly fine ignoring the height limit as long as the child still has room above the head. Height and weight limits are often lower in Canada due to their regulations about which crash test dummies can be used to certify the seats.

Boy the prices in Canada seem high, so I am thinking buying locally will work out to be the same. What about the Evenflo Triumph? I can get a decent price on it and it looks nice.

Re: car seat options for a tall toddler?

My 5 year (43 inches) old still rides in our Triumph Advance. She says it is as comfy as her Frontier, and so she asks to ride in it regularly. The straps are not removable. Also, it is quite wide, so not good if you ever need to do 3 across. It is reasonably tall RF, but not super tall. If you are going for super tall, I'd go Complete Air, or try to get a Radian.
