Flip covers?

Who here uses Flip covers? I'm specifically interested in hearing from anyone who has used them over GMD prefolds/fitteds. I really like how they snap, and that they are OS. With the baby coming in April and having 2 in diapers it would be nice to have a stash of OS covers, without needing to size up covers everytime we size up in prefolds/fitteds...

Re: Flip covers?

I use them pretty much exclusively over GMD prefolds and workhorses for my 15 lb little one and my 38 lb nearly PL'd big girl. LOVE THEM!

Re: Flip covers?

How many covers would one need for 2 in diapers? Without having to do laundry daily haha

Re: Flip covers?

How old will your older one be? I have 10 covers and its pushing it to last 3 days between washes and my older one uses only one cover a day. Are you planning on using flips from the start? (My skinny babies couldn't use them until closer to 10 lbs) I would think you'd need a min of 24, and even then it might be tight depending on how often your older one goes.

My oldest will be around 20 months.. I'll probably need some newborn/small covers for the beginning...

Re: Flip covers?

If you use fitteds and snappi the prefilds on, then I think you coupd get away with 24 and wash every other to every third day. If you want to wash once a week, you might want more like 36. Also, if you planned on trifolding the prefolds, i'd go with more lile 36 because the poop will get on the cover more often. (I should warn, I'm a bit of a minimalist so I'm going with smallest amt, others would probably say you need a lot more. Hehe)

Re: Flip covers?

Wow, 36 covers seems like a lot! I have 2 in cloth and I have 12 covers (4 flips and the rest are thirsties and imagine) all together and that's more than enough for me to wash every other day. I'm pretty sure I could go 3 days if I needed to. I use fitteds, flats, and prefolds under them.

Re: Flip covers?

LOL. I wasn't sure how many days she wanted to go without washing. Like I said, I have ten covers and that works for us, but my older one doesn't go through many. I had about 20 when DD1 was younger and DD2 was a newbie and that worked fine for us, but I've seen ppl need 3 dozen for a three day rotation. Shrugs. (It seems a little excessive to me. ) I think 24 would be enough to have a nice cushion.

Re: Flip covers?

I'ved used them on my little, she's 2 months now. We use yellow edge GMDs or fitteds under it. They're really really wide :/ It doesn't cause leaks or bug her, but it looks funny lol. She's not quite 9 lbs
