Gift Ideas For Under One
For those with children under one, what are you planning gift wise for them?
Christmas will be here before we know it but I'm not sure what to get Austen. I know she won't really know what's going on completely but it's her first Christmas! My family is already asking what to get her. They go kind of nuts with gifts.

Mamamadethem on etsy makes a nice hardwood key set that I got for my then 5 month old. Family didn't go as crazy for him as I thought they would. You could ask for a musical plushie - the kind where you pull the tail or trunk or whatever and music plays. Both of my children adored theirs.

Re: Gift Ideas For Under One
My personal opinion is gifts for under one are gifts for the parents, (or they should be, lol). So my recommendations are: massage for mom, cloth diapers, and another massage for mom. Well, at least that's my list. More traditional would be wooden blocks, or clothes in bigger sizes. Or a highchair, or contributions towards a convertible carseat. Try to think of what you will need (for baby), and ask for that. But, my young 'un (albeit older than yours), loves to play with measuring spoons, wool dryer balls, the dogs' squeaky toys, and a bag of oatmeal. LO has a blast, and we don't have to buy a lot of official "toys". My recommendations might be different if your babe was older, but at ~6 months, I wouldn't stress too much.

Just thought of an official "toy" idea: play keys on a keyring. Wooden or plastic. Big hit.

Re: Gift Ideas For Under One
For our boys their first Christmases (they were 2, and 3 months) they got lots of clothes, and a couple of small toys. We hardly spent anything on them and family did mostly clothes and then gave us some money to use as we needed for baby stuff.
My daughter was 11 months old at her first Christmas, so she already had interests and knew what she liked, clothes, baby dolls, toy phones

Re: Gift Ideas For Under One
At that age, and for awhile before and after, my DS's absolute favorite toy was the ball popper, I think it was fisher price? They have a few now, an elephant and others. He just had the traditional one that a friend had passed on. Honestly, if it hadn't broken from CONSTANT use he would still play with it daily at over 2 yrs old now. He adored it.
To be honest I have thought about getting him a new one even now. LOL I wish I had replaced it when it kicked the bucket. |
