I was gonna say something like this. Our good friend from college is a Harrison. No one ever shortens it. Actually, ocassionally one of the guys would affectionately call him Harry when drinking alcohol. The first time I heard it I didn't even realize that would be short for Harrison.

Re: Traditional boy names?

That's interesting to know about the name Harrison. We both really like that name but basically ruled it out due to "Harry" which just seemed like a naturally shorter version. Much like many Jennifers get turned into "Jen's" and Benjamins into Ben's. Most kids I've known with longer names grew up and people shortened it.

I definitely wouldn't just be ok with US calling him Harrison. it would drive me bonkers for others to call him Harry, but it's hard to control that outside of immediate family for the first couple of years. So hmm, maybe it can go back on the list if shortening it to Harry isn't as common as we thought.

Re: Traditional boy names?

We've considered - Nicholas, Seth, Jude, Gabriel, Leo

We cannot agree on anything though because we don't have the same taste and the names that we do like don't go well with our last name.

I actually like both of those names, but a very longtime friend who is local named her DS Colton and we have another longtime family friend with a kiddo name Wyatt (which DH doesn't like anyway). I never even brought up Colton because of my friends son, but I doubt he would like it either unfortunately.

He does a LOT of ruling out and not many suggestions, so I'm getting a smidge frustrated! I want baby to have a name after we know the gender, and that is at the end of the month!

I told him if he doesn't pick something good, I will put Arie on the birth certificate. LOL So hopefully that lights a fire under his butt.
