Re: THANKSGIVING! KAL ~ Nov 18-24

Just got back from the store. Forgot celery. Will have to have DH stop and get it.

Today's to-do list:
1 pumpkin pie
1 apple pie
1 batch bran/chocolate chip muffins
1 batch cranberry/orange quickbread
make 5 other pie crusts so they're ready to go for more pies on Friday
Roast squash
Whip the butter
Clean the house

Phew! Maybe knitting tonight!?! I hope!

Who has the famous cranberries? Can you share a recipe?

Famous Cranberries

1/2 orange
2 cups water
1 tart apple, such as Granny Smith, pippin or
McIntosh
3 cups fresh cranberries
1 1/4 cups sugar
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground cloves
Directions:
Squeeze the juice from the orange and set the juice aside. Remove and discard the membrane from inside the orange rind and cut the rind into small dice. In a small saucepan over high heat, combine the rind and the water and bring to a boil. Cook for 10 minutes, then drain and set aside.

Peel, core and quarter the apple. Cut into 1/2-inch dice and place in a saucepan. Sort the cranberries, discarding any soft ones. Add to the apples along with the orange juice, orange rind, sugar, cinnamon and cloves. Bring to a boil over high heat, reduce the heat to low and cover the pan partially. Simmer gently, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens, the apple is tender and the cranberries have burst, 10 to 15 minutes.

Transfer the cranberry sauce to a heatproof bowl and let cool for 1 hour before serving. Or cover and refrigerate; bring to room temperature before serving. Transfer the cranberry sauce to a sauceboat and pass at the table.
Makes 3 1/2 to 4 cups.

Re: THANKSGIVING! KAL ~ Nov 18-24

I need to bake some chocolate mini cupcakes then decorate them all for tomorrow. Hoping I can get 4 1/3 more drawstrings made and weave the ends in to finish up a custom order.

Very well may be skipping out of work a little early because I am caught up and ready to go.

I haven't been around. Dhs grandpa had a massive stroke and it's the end today. I have a depressing question though - I need help. Need to get a funeral outfit for the baby today. A store has dark brown suit but black I can't track down for a toddler on one day notice. Is that okay? I can't make a decision.

Awesome. I think it runs 10-2 so I am guessing we wouldn't get into Vancouver until after 11 anyways
