Question Gross dipe in swap, how do I get it white?

I just got my first disgusting diaper from FSOT, and since I've bought around 50+ I guess I was due. I don't want to demand my money back, because I just don't want to deal with the potential hassle. I didn't request a pic of the inside, but I don't think it would have shown up it's all over consistently brown/grey.

First I should mention it's a BumGenius Elemental. Color is butternut if that matters.
The issue isn't poo staining, it's just disgusting dingey (like big time gross dingey) brown on every part of the cotton. The outer is fine, so I think it's just that they had a poor wash routine or a bad washer or something. I got it today, so far I used my miracle recipe of dawn/hydrogen peroxide/baking soda make a paste and let it sit an hour then wash. This is the first item I couldn't get an item completely clean with that.

Any ideas?

I'm hesitant to try bleach because what would be the point of having organic cotton if I'm going to bleach it? But at this point, it's pretty gross. No holes or wear otherwise though, so I don't want to pitch it.

Help!!!!

What a bummer! I would think that would be worth mentioning if I was selling a diaper like that... anyway, I think if you put some lemon juice on and sun it that would help with the dinginess. I use bleach on occasion but that is usually just for sanitizing/stink issues and not for stains.

Thanks. I forgot to add that we live in Michigan and there is NO sun (ok that's dramatic but barely any) until June!!

You actually don't have to get direct sun to bleach out stains. Even if it's overcast it will still help because there are still UV rays. Check out this thread with diapers "sunning" in a snow storm.

That is exactly what it looks like out our windows these days!
I'll try that, but does anyone have any indoor washing or treatment ideas?

It's clean, and a new elemental. Not brand new, supposedly EUC, but I mean that it's the new style not old. No it doesn't smell. This isn't a colorway, it's funk. (I love unbleached prefolds, so I know raw cotton coloring)

You could try a non clorine bleach or an oxyclean soak if you'd like to avoid clorine bleach..

Re: Gross dipe in swap, how do I get it white?

We have issues with manganese in our water supply and it leaves diapers just like you describe (and it never stains the PUL, just the inner part and the inserts). Lemon juice is the way to go, I soaked mine in lemon and hot water and they came out looking like new after a whole winter of set in stains.
