Re: Teachers, $?
I started with a BS degree at $28000, but that was 7 years ago. I live in Utah. My base salary is now around $40,000 and I have a Masters. But I make more than that with my extended contract, and extra curricular stuff. We have a pretty low cost of living here and that makes a difference too. Around here I make better money as a teacher than I could in the private sector, which is not true everywhere.

Re: Teachers, $?
I think there's a big range. My SIL is in metro Detroit and moved from one private to another and while I don't know her salary, I do know she got a $20k/year raise and now has health insurance. Insurance wasn't an option at the other school. She's been teaching 8 years and teaches preschool.
