I drove myself to l&d and hubs left when babe was 4 days old back on the road. And I had 4 other lo's under 6. I hear u on that momma. Mine is gone 3-4m at a time and is home for a few days and leaves again.

Wowza...while on one hand I get it on the other I don't. Once you become a mother you dh becomes a father...sure he may not feed the baby but he can still do other parenty things which means he wont feel left out. Part of the problem is thinking that first little bit is about mama and baby...it is but its not. It's about all of you...mom, dad, baby, siblings. The thought process that daddy does nothing and that iit is the womans job is what creates the problem to begin with.

Saying "thank you" to your DH for picking up dinner because you haven't showered in two days and have breastmilk in your hair? Certainly reasonable. But the only time I will be fluffing his pillow is if I'm getting ready to suffocate him with it because he asked me to mop the floor on my hands and knees...

When I was pregnant with DD my mother had a "talk" with me about making sure DH didn't feel left out, or ignored. At first I was thinking ya I get it, it's a big transition. You go from being just the 2 of you too this new little person that requires all of your time. But then the more we talked about it the more I thought, my husband is a grown up and if he didnt understand this is what having a baby would be like then maybe he shouldn't have had one. it's not my job as a new mother to take are of a newborn and a husband who acts like a 5 year old that just lost mommies attention
