Anyone have a tungsten wedding band? Or some other non-traditional metal?

DH has lost his wedding band. And my ring is broken. Our anniversary is coming up, so I am considering getting us a matching set.

I was looking at Tungsten bands on Ebay and they are relatively cheap and can be engraved. Plus, DH had one before and they are very durable and don't scratch easily.

I like the way yellow gold looks. I prefer it over the silver color of the Tungsten, but I am concerned with durability. My ring that broke was gold. I'd like something sturdier that I don't have to worry about scratching up.

Anyway, if you have a non-traditional band, what metal is it made of? Are you happy with it? Why? Why not? Any suggestions for places to buy? Things to watch out for?

I see a lot of these rings on Ebay from Hong Kong. I am not against purchasing from China, but I am curious about the quality.

Thanks!

My DH has a Tungsten wedding band. He doesn't wear it to work b/c he is a machinist, but otherwise it has held up wonderfully and hardly has a scratch on it. I can't remember where we got it from, but it wasn't very expensive. I can take a picture of it, if you want me to.

Not tungsten, but titanium, hubby has one, and I will be getting one for xmas!(yayyy!)

DH's is from here, a Canadian company, www.titaniumera.com They are based out of MTL and you can actually go to their 'factory' if you are local so they are definitely not outsourcing with a Canadian address the way many are.

Theres also tons of titanium rings available on Etsy not sure about Tungsten though.

Dh's ring is tungsten, it holds well and doesn't scratch but be aware tungsten is really heavy, so it might take some getting used to.

my DH does, he really likes it, but the thing is they cannot be cut off or re-sized like gold can, so i guess thats the negative of it. It looks very nice though, and is very durable, doesnt scratch easily ect

DP and I both have titanium rings. We love them and would choose titanium again in a heartbeat.

DH has a Tungsten ring from Tungstenworld.com. I actually picked it up in person since the business is nearby. Tungsten is and incredibly durable metal. (Granted, DH is a computer programmer who doesn't do anything rough with his hands.) After 4 years of wear, I still don't see any scratches on it.

A few things to consider with tungsten. It's an extemely hard metal. It can't be cut, therefore, it can't be resized. It can shatter if hit hard enough. I haven't personally seen it happen, but it is an normal property for this metal. If your finger were to swell, and you went to the ER to have it removed, the hospital would have to chip at the ring until it broke.
