Car Seats?

Do you already have a car seat or know what your getting? I have a smallish SUV and with both other kids in boosters we will definitely start with an infant seat so its easier to get in/out. I've been looking online at Chicco but I think we'll need to go somewhere we can try them out to be sure everyone will fit!

DS currently has a Britax Conv. And a True Fit, and we are going to use his graco snugride 35 for newbie. We were very happy with it!

The baby will use DS2's Chicco Keyfit30. It was bought new in 2011, so it's still good for awhile. DS2 is in a Britax, as are the older 2.

Starting out with the hand me down from big brother. Then, if this kid follows what first two kids did, the length will be outgrown in about 4 months and we'll probably switch to a Britax Marathon. Those have worked great for us.

Re: Car Seats?

We've used Graco. What SUV do you have? We have a Hyundai Santa Fe and there is no way we could get any 3 old carseats across the back of it. I'd definitely measure. There is also a car seat forum under parenting where you can get more advice.

DDC...
We kept one of our Graco snugrides from the twins to use with this baby. I like that you can get the snap n' go stroller for it but other then that I am not too impressed. If I could do it over again I would get a Maxi Cosi.
I second the idea to measure to make sure it would fit, even in my minivan in the back bench seat there is no way I could fit three car seats across. I can fit two back there and then the third baby will ride in one of the captain seats. Plus, you would want to get baby in and out easily so practice is a great idea!

Re: Car Seats?

we're handing down from big sister and then DD has a carseat in both DH and my cars, so that one will move into mine when new baby is too big for the bucket.

then we'll have to go everywhere in my car............................................... ..... blah.

but I only have 2, so it's easy to fit :P

Re: Car Seats?

I have no idea what we'll get right now.
I love the keyfit - but we only have the 22 up here, not the 30, and $200+ is a lot for a 22lb seat.
We may end up getting another higher weight limit seat - mainly so we could get the first winter with Hiccup still in the infant seat.

I've heard that the keyfit is a good one for puzzling 3-across. A radian may be needed to achieve it, though - they're very narrow seats. We have one for Levi and I really do like it!

I see people mentioning never fitting 3-across the back row of a van... I hope we have better luck - we have to get 3-across in ours.

I'm pretty sure we are going to go with the Maxi Cosi Pria 70.

We have a 3 row SUV and the other two boys are out of carseats (13 & 9.5, both giants, lol), so we don't really have to worry about space. The Pria is one of the few convertible seats that truly fits a tiny newborn (thanks to the Tiny Fit insert they have).

I love the combi corocco

but of course we don't have that up here. Stupid canada and the limited seat choices.
