Knitting My First Sweater

I am ready to take on the task of knitting my first sweater. I have done longies, scarves, overalls, and a toy. I am ready to take the jump into sweaters.

I would love to make one that uses a colorway and trim and obviously is easy. I am eying the Nate Hoodie on Rav, but am curious if anyone has experience with it or another one they would recommend before I buy the pattern. I am going to start out with making one for the babe before making bigger ones for my older boys. I have my yarn ready and waiting! I just need to pick a pattern!

Any feedback would be great! Thanks!

I've never knit it, but it looks like a nice sweater. I'm doing the Greyson pattern for my boys for Christmas. I despise seaming so any sweater without seaming is good for me.

That is a really cute sweater too! But I really want it to have a hood.

I can totally remember the excitement of knitting my first sweater! My advice is to start out with a top down raglan. Pullover is easier then a cardigan, but not to much. Good luck!

I do like that one. But it only goes to size 6 months. I need a 24 month size. Any idea how to make that work? I figure I could just make him a matching hat.

Raglan refers to a type of sweater construction there are tons on Rav. I will go look and be back.

Oh! LOL! Can you tell I am newbie?

I am fine with buying a pattern if it is clear and easy to follow. I just want something I can do and won't take me a year to finish.

Thank you so much!

The Nate hoodie is actually a top down raglan so it should work out great for you. Make sure your cast on is super loose because you will have to pick up those stitches. Good luck!

I LOVED the Wonderful Wallaby pattern for my first (and so far only) sweater. It even goes up to adult sizes AND has a hood.

Extremely easy.
