Ugh! This happens to me at least once a month. I file an unpaid item case on day 4 every time. I clearly state in my listings that they have 4 days to pay. On day 3, I send a reminder telling them that if they need more time, they need to contact me to let me know. (I do not mention that I will open a case in the reminder. I don't want it to sound like a threat since they can leave negative feedback if they pay.) Sometimes they pay, sometimes they don't, sometimes they respond and ask if I can wait until payday. If I don't hear from them, I close the case and get my fees back.
If someone were to obtain several unpaid item strikes, they can be banned from eBay. In your my eBay page, you can block bidders with 2 or more unpaid item strikes, but I have not really noticed a difference in the number of cases I've had since enabling the blocks.
I hope your "buyer" pays and you don't have to deal with the hassle. Good luck!

I have had a lot of unpaid buyers. It's been really annoying. I too have them blocked. But it doesn't seem to change how many I get..

Give them a sweeeeeet reminder after 3 full days. Then file on after the 4th.

My most recent nonpayment went like this.

Won bid. On 4th day, no payment.

I messaged saying I was just waiting on payment, the item was packaged. I would wait another 24 hours before filling a nonpayment claim though have a great day!! Yadadada.

No payment day 5.

Filed claim. Payment 24 hours later.

He messaged me. I paid. Mail ASAP.

Um, cool. Coulda mailed it 6 days ago jerk. I messaged back sweet as pie that I was thankful for payment and I would, indeed, ship ASAP.

Now I wait for some sort of 'not as described' claim. Cause he clearly did not WANT item. And eBay loves to side with buyers. They also review all messages and pictures if buyer opens some sort of claim. They have been hitting me for partial refunds for made up reasons. Part of the eBay scams. Just the way it is. And eBay really is not supportive of sellers.

Re: ebay question

It happened to me 5 times in the last 6 month that people never paid. Even after very friendly reminders they didn't communicate with me. So sad and disappointing. Why do people do that?!
I file cases all the time, but ebay doesn't seem to do anything about these buyers. And once you opened a case you can't even leave a feedback to warn other sellers...

They still haven't paid. I sent another reminder yesterday and haven't heard anything yet. It has been 8 days. How do I file a claim?

Very easy: You go to your "sold"-page and click on more actions at the right of the unpaid item. Then click "report the buyer" and then choose to report an unpaid item.
This is one way, there might be other and even easier ways...
Good luck

That. If you report though- I believe you have to now give them the chance to still pay. Or you just cancel transaction. I always report cause I hate to show them nothing happens.
