gifts for hospital staff?

I was thinking that I'd like to make some jam. I'd prob only do small sized jars. I don't want to go all out or anything, either. I'm just wondering how much I should plan on making?? Obviously for the DR, poss anesthesiologist, and unknown nurses on duty during my stay. Maybe if I make a dz and just pass them out to who comes to my room? I've never done anything like this before, so I'm clueless!

INput? what are you doing, if anything?

My older kids LOVE writting thank you notes/ drawings so I have been collecting a pile of those to pass out. We have formed a special bond with my peri though so he will be getting a gift basket. He grew up where DH did, and then did his residency and fellowship where I am from, so we made a basket full of goodies that you can only get from those places.

Re: gifts for hospital staff?

We had lots of unexpected students too so that would be something to consider too.

I didn't do this either. I had thought about it with DS for the NICU but never ended up doing anything. I did make something for them for Thanksgiving or Christmas (forget which) while I was there, but it wasn't well received.

Forgot to mention, I am giving my RE an owl when I see him after N is born, and he wants a copy of the book my DH is editing (scientific textbook) so I will send that to him when it comes out. The lady who first found my cancer (an ultrasound tech) wants just a photo of Nathaniel so I am trying to figure out how to make it so she can have that in a special way.

Re: gifts for hospital staff?

I figure I will make a bunch and keep them in my room, and hand out to only staff who actually are helping me. It's a tiny hospital, so there won't be lots of ppl in and out, mainly just shift changes. I'm planning on laboring at home if possible so I think I could always make some cookies or banana bread during early labor to take and place in the nurses station. This will be my first time doing it too, and def last!

I made 5 goodie bags for the nurses that actually take care of me and I'll order pizza and/or donuts after I deliver for everyone to share. It's a small unit, a dozen nurses including the nursery ladies.

I will probably not do anything for the staff. I never really thought of it before, to be honest.

Same here. I will deliver at a really large hospital and I never had anyone really consistently w/DS. I have thought about bringing treats for my OB and his office staff though. They have been great! I would be lying if I said that it wouldn't be for buttering them up a bit too. When I had all of my problems after DS, my old OB's staff was awful and wouldn't return phone calls or help me at all. I definitely want to stay on everyone's good side with my current doctor's staff.
