ADHD meds what is your child taking?

Im trying to decide on what med id like to try for DD. She was on adderall but it was causing trimmers. She been off of them for about 3 months and we been doing natural stuff and she just isnt doing to well. Her grades have dropped from A/Bs to C and Fs. What is your child on and do you like it?

DS1 is on a high dose of Concerta. This is a new dosage but so far so good. He has been on it for years but his new doctor felt the need to shake things up. At least it isn't Adderall/Vyvanse. Those made him seriously violent.

My daughter took Metadate CD in 4th & 5th grade (she has ADD, not ADHD). It helped her so much, without any of the side effects. I would HIGHLY recommend it! It is expensive, but I feel that being cheap with ADD/ADHD Medicine is not an option.

Oh, and she started out on 20mg and bumped up to 30mg after about 7 or 8 months. We took her off of it this year (hopefully permanently) to see how she would do without, and so far, so good!

DS did Concerta (27mg) for several years. He did great on it and the only side effect I could see was the usual appetite lose and having a hard time falling asleep. He's been med free for over 6 months and doing great but I really think meds helped him a lot.

Re: ADHD meds what is your child taking?

My ds is on Concerta xr, the lowest dose, I think 18mg. It is awesome and the only side effect is his sleep but melatonin helps with that.

We tried to go to the next dosage, but that messed with his sleep so bad that we didn't see any benefits of it at all.

We have also tried focalin xr in the first 2 dosages, and saw very little positive from the first, and lots of side effects. The higher dose made him crazy violent and angry.

We also tried adderall and that was ok. We stayed on that for about a year, but we had sleep issues, appetite issues, and this med didn't touch his behavior, just helped with his focus and he did ok with school work.

I have learned though, that every child will react differently and sometimes it takes a bit of trial and error. Good luck!

Concerta. Just upped his dose recently, but I am not sure it's helping. He's really struggling in school and I am currently playing phone tag with the teacher to "discuss how he is doing."
