UTI
I think I have one coming on
I'm 32 weeks on Friday and am currently on a ton of meds to help with babies lung development and also to help my cholestasis. Is there anyway I can treat this without piling in a round of antibiotics? Or do I seriously need a doctor on this one?

Re: UTI
Cranberry juice, or cranberry pills.

Re: UTI
I second the cranberry pills. The juice really is only good is you drink liters of it. The pills, it says to take two a day. But I have figured out how to get rid of a UTI in one day. First check with a Dr. that it is ok to take them. Then take four pills. Drink two glasses of water. then for every half an hour to hour, take another pill and another glass of water. For me if I do that and manage to take 7-8 pills in one day, it's gone. I get them really easily, and don't have time to get to a dr, cuz if I leave it that long I get kidney infections-which are no fun!! Hope that helps and you are feeling better soon!

Re: UTI
I wouldn't mess around with the UTI. I got one late in pregnancy, but it was borderline, so I opted to not take the meds. Not too many weeks later, when my baby was 3 weeks old, I got a massive infection and a fever of 106...which sent me to the ER. It was AWFUL to get really sick, after childbirth and a trying to take care of a newborn.

I would call your doctor. I have always heard that cranberry will help prevent infection but there is nothing to cure one besides antibiotics.

Cranberry is good for prevention and general urinary tract health, but will not cure a UTI. And since an infection can exacerbate or cause premature labor, I would see a doc about it ASAP.

Re: UTI
Cranberries actually have antibiotic properties. Just saying.

Re: UTI
Personally, I haven't had any luck with cranberry juice or cranberry pills with any of my UTIs. Antibiotics would be the best course of action, but my second best solution is water and apple cider vinegar. I mix in about an ounce or two of ACV with 6-8 oz of water. Drink 3 of those a day for a few days. (http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/bladder_infection.html)
I've had 3 during my pregnancy so far and I go to the doctor asap for antibiotics.

Re: UTI
Strengthen your immune system. Probiotics, garlic, cranberry pills, vitamin C (not ascorbic acid). It can't hurt to try and out might save you from the antibiotics, which are not without risk to you and the baby.
