this is what I THOUGHT.... but we were reading the Dr. Sears book section about 2yos the other day and he says

Infant 4-12months
Toddler 12-24 months
2 year old
Preschooler: 3-5

doesn't matter to me really, but I've stopped referring to my 2yo as a toddler.

Yep I agree with this, though I sort of start saying toddler when they are walking, for my boys that was 10 months, for my daughter not until 16 months.

Around here there are zero "preschool" options (though there are some more academic daycare centers) until 3, so 3-kindergarten are preschoolers. My son is 5 and in preschool, so I still refer to him that way, but had we sent him to kindergarten (birthday right at the cut off) I would not.

Yeah my 12 month old isn't walking so I won't call her a toddler yet.

This is what I use except I don't think of my kids as toddlers until they can walk but I agree with the age ranges. I do think of my 2 year olds as toddlers no matter what their skills were.

I consider my son a toddler and have since he started "toddling" around. I guess I'll consider him a kid at around 4 yrs.

Re: What ages are considered a "toddler" ?

I think of a toddler as "one who toddles"...literally. A new walker and new runner, somewhere up to age 2.

Haha, I still call my toddler "the baby". I can accept she's not an infant, but she's still a baby to me!
