Discourged. Want to give up!
Third baby first time cloth diapering. Just when I thought we were getting the hang of it I'm having issues.
We started with perfect size fuzzibunz but switched them all out for freetimes and a few FLIPS recently. A couple of weeks ago we had a busy day out and I left a poo (EBF) in there way too long oops mama mistake. He developed a pretty bad rash that just wasn't going away with coconut oil, his poor booty was raw and the freetimes were just too wet so we switched to disposables and triple paste until it cleared. Then on thanksgiving (this actually might have been before the disposable switch)I noticed a tiny spot of blood in his flip where he had just peed I flipped! Thinking it was in his urine. The nurse hotline just said to keep an eye just a fluke no fever or pain and it didnt happen again. He seems very sensitive to the freetimes. like it folds and twists I think the micro may touch his skin and he has red burns on his legs. Excuse my yammering hope this makes sense my anxiety is so bad right now. So! Tonight he had a flip on and I saw another spot of blood! This time it seems like it came from his wee wee almost like he has a little scratch or irritation, doesn't seem like it was his urine this time. He does have some irritation on his bum. I already went and got pampers *sigh* because the blood worried me again. I just don't know what to do! We had no issues with our fuzzibunz at all. I'm tempted to throw in the towel because its such an effort to get this right. We are also using rockin green that could be too harsh on his skin, but we did use it a few times on the FB with no issues. So is it the freetimes the RG? I don't know what to do! I just spent so much time switching his whole stash out.

Re: Discourged. Want to give up!
I‘ve given up on my freetimes (rash where the elastics are around legs, plus below tummy where diaper starts). We‘re going with fitteds for day too (formerly our night diapers).

Don't give up! Remember the reasons why you started cloth, even if it was only the $! My little guy has super sensitive skin too, he has redness in sposies and cloth almost all the time if I'm not super careful (diapers that keep away moisture and changing often). I've only been doing this 5 months now but I'm switching to all fabrics which wick away moisture because that's been my problem (switching to pockets, Athletic Wicking Jersey-covered AI2s and fitteds with wool vs. prefolds and AIOs). I don't have experience with BGEs or Flips but it sounds like you just have a very sensitive fellow, maybe he can't handle the PUL?

Aww! Hang in there! I'm sorry you're having a rough go of it!
There's no shame in taking a break from cloth if you need to, or switching to sposies entirely if that's best for your baby and your family. Is there a way you can do several washes in a different detergent to see if the rng is causing a problem? I tried some on my diapers a while back, and we had instant rashes! Maybe some "air time" for your little guy's bum would help clear up the rash as well. (And if it makes you feel any better, my little guy is in sposies tonight because of a super acidic poo rash. Maximum strength Desitin for him tonight! Poor baby! )

Things will get better. Do an extra rinse on the washing routine.
Take a little break start fresh and change often.

Re: Discourged. Want to give up!
If the freetimes are the first product you have tried with suedecloth inner, that may be the culprit. RG gave my baby nasty burns, we had to stop using it. Good Lucky, mama! Don't give up!

What makes you think the blood has to do with CD's specifically? I've heard of that happening with babies in both CD & disposables.
That being said, it could be the RnG. It does irritate & burn some babies. ![]() Sent from my iPhone using DS Forum
