Re: Basically it's Friday!
I'm just annoyed I actually read the rules and try to comply, and then stuff like when Rosie won a prize of a plastic pumpkin full of Reese's and Peanut M&s at the Halloween party happens and makes me wonder why bother. They have to go all Nazi on it because nobody does the most basic stuff that prevents these things.
It's sad because I know how terrifying it must be to send a kid that needs an epi pen to school every day. But at some point, dangit can't rosie have her stupid pie!

Re: Basically it's Friday!
I agree just but then I am not in a nut free zone. We are wide open wild west. Ask Mel, she was always happy we could have peanut noodles at school

Re: Basically it's Friday!
Seriously, it isn't like the packaging goes with her. They won't know how it is made, and she will be eating her nut free pie next to a kid eating a PB and J.

Re: Basically it's Friday!
They sent a flyer that has a list of branded snacks on it. Then they also sent a list that said things like stuff made with white flour is not real food you should send veggies,.
Like I said it's a bit dumb. I did scan the whole thing to make sure they weren't going to address things like bread, because you can't really prove what bread you have. The email with both flyers that said costco/kroger baked goods were not allowed did list two local bakeries that are nut-free. And of course no homemade. So they are saying indirectly, if you want cupcakes, you have to get them from here.

Re: Basically it's Friday!
We aren't nut free either, and I don't even know if the school has a nut free table
They did in Gillette but only because there were kids that couldn't be anywhere near it.

Re: Basically it's Friday!
I just hope Little Caesar's doesn't start serving something with nuts.
I don't mind buying pizza for the whole class when it's only $5 each pizza.

I think it's nuts!
What's wrong with an enforce "only eat your own food" rule and a wash hands straight after eating rule? Is that really too hard to do?

Re: Basically it's Friday!
At the old school, Rosie had a classmate that was deathly allergic to many things, including nuts. But this kid was well-educated on what he could eat. and he knew to not eat it if he didn't know. His mom also worked at the school part time, and they lived at the house that was literally closest to the school.
And she never expected anything like what this school is doing.
