Daughters hair/head smelly

My daughter has just turned 9 and the California baby shampoo just doesn't seem to be working. Her scalp smells even after we just washed it. I use a shampoo bar and it really stings eyes bad so I don't want to use that. We only usually take a bath once a week. Do you have any recommends for preteen natural shampoo?

By nine she should be able to keep her head back and not get it in her eyes- I have my bigger girls use adult shampoo. Her hair is going to be even more greasy than most adults for the next few years.......a good adult shampoo is the only thing I've found to work.

We use Dr. Bronners most of the time for shampoo and everything else in the bath.

I didn't like the Cali baby on my DS when he was a babe. I liked the Burt's bees on him (for baby) and liked it much better. I think they have a regular/adult version too. Right now hubby and I use Nature's Gate and like it pretty well.

She has been using the leftover conventional adult shampoo but her head will still smell a day or 2 later. And I would prefer something more natural.

Start her on no poo is my first thought. The baking soda should neutralize any odor.

Can you get Nature's Gate local or is it on line only?

We have Dr. Bronners in the house. Should I use the baby, mint or lavender.
I also bought some sal suds to try in the washer but after reading the ingredients I don't think I want to try it on people.

Re: Daughters hair/head smelly

Probably she just needs to wash more. That's the age when their hormones start going and they just need to bathe more. My oldest is 12 and while she doesn't seem to need a shower but twice a week, her hair looks nasty after 2 days. We've tried several different things. Right now she's using Organix (no idea how natural it is, but we were on vacation and limited), but we often get Avalon, Jason, or Nature's Gate. I have also found for her that we need to rotate through shampoos.

Giovanni Organic Hair products might be good for her.
