Re: Recommend YOUR seat that YOU love!

I've only ever had a few convertibles for our kids. I've really liked the Scenera (cheap, easy to install, easy to use) and I honestly love our Radian.
We do have the angle adjuster for Levi - without it, his weight in the seat pushes it down into the vehicle seat and makes it too reclined. We don't move it between vehicles, so the weight isn't an issue for us. I like the low sides on it - makes it easier for him to get in on his own, and makes it easy for us to reach him for buckling.
I've heard differing opinions on it while FF and that kinda scares me! But we'll have to have 3 across in the back come spring, so we'll have to figure out the tricks to make it work.

We haven't tried it RF at a 45* angle in this van (have just used the adjuster all the time since we've had this one), but will be trying it out as we're considering another Radian for Hiccup.
I really do wish I could find the True Fits up here still, though - I would love to have that seat!

I'm surprised at all the true fit love. They seem huge to me. Are they not? I'm going by what I see online in pictures so not much help.

Re: Recommend YOUR seat that YOU love!

Seats I have owned:
Snugride 22
Combi Coccoro
True Fit
Recaro Como
Radian 65SL

I have installed almost every seat on the market in the US at least once. My favorites are the Radian and the True Fit. I LOVE the Coccoro but it's not a practical seat for average to large babies. I do not like Britax convertibles at all. I don't know if we just get all the problem child ones at our check station but I see SO much misuse and have issues with seat belt installs with them. Their lockoffs are not user friendly and destroy fingernails. I realize I am really outnumbered by the die hard Britax lovers but that is my honest opinion of their convertibles. I like the Frontier and it's the only Britax seat I would own. I also don't like the company but that's a whole other issue.

I'd buy a true fit in a heart beat if they would raise the rf limit to 40lbs.

Re: Recommend YOUR seat that YOU love!

1. What seat do you have?

Radian XTSL

2. How old is the child and what do they weigh?

2.5y, ~37" and 35lb

3. What vehicle do you have and if the seat is RF/FF in there?

Subaru Outback Sedan, still RF comfortably.

We will be getting the Diono version of the XTSL for our Squirrel in May because we like our current seat so much.

Pros:
RF pretty much endlessly, even with my tall DD
Easy to install with SuperLatch
Narrow and easy to lift a kid into (no high seat wings)
Mesh fabric is comfortably cool even in high temps

Cons:
HEAVY
Harness adjuster is not easy to adjust - strap tends to stick inside the base making it impossible to tighten properly. Only an issue if you need to change the fit (rare).

Hands down the True Fit. Super roomy, tall harness, easy to adjust, sits deep(which I find comfort in.) Ds rf in his until 3 1/2 yrs ( still had plenty of height and weight to grow, but he started complaining about the crotch strap.)
We have purchased a TF premier for this baby set to arrive any day. I tried to like a few other seats, but I just couldn't

We have owned a Scenera, ETA, Britax Roundabout, Marathon, and Radian EXTSL(or whatever those initials were.) I'm not a huge fan of the Britax convertibles. I just don't like my kiddo sitting perched up on the seat, and I find them to be lacking in leg room for so much $. The radian was ok. I wanted to like it more than I did.
Ds is currently FF in a Britax Frontier and I am very happy with it

Eta: we have installed the seats in a Malibu, Silverado, Accord, Sable, and currently in a Sienna.

I honestly love my Scerena, I bought a new one about 6 months ago in a carseat emergency (had to get to the ER fast, no carseat for baby) and I love it! I would buy another without hesitation. Easy to install properly, RF to 40lbs, easy to adjust and cheap. I have the newer version
I know that most people arent looking for that as a suggestion so I dont mention it, but, they are a good option for families on a budget. Being installed correctly and fitted to baby correctly is the most important part, over the fancy features.

Re: Recommend YOUR seat that YOU love!

I would get Sceneras if our vehicles weren't going to be used equally. But with only FF to 40 lbs we would have to get new seats when we turned them around and then by then we could have just paid a little more and gotten some R100's (on sale for $175 at Albee Baby).
