At this point you'll likely have to work hard to up your supply to get much "extra." Fenugreek and blessed thistle, 3 pills 3x a day of each. I'd start with that and pumping and/or hand expressing as much as you can squeeze in. Does your LO sleep through the night? If so, one pumping session during the night could really help. Also, power pumping. Watch an hour long show and pump on each commercial break, try that for a few days too.

ETA, it's highly doubtful that's you'll be able to offer enough bm to feed her exclusively. But ANY amount would be very beneficial to her.

So awesome of you to do this for her.

My daughter is 17mo and I just recently started pumping two or three times a day. I don't take any supplements and I pump whenever is convenient. I use a medela pump in style advanced, pump 20 min on one side while my lo nurses on the other. I usually get about 10oz per session, but my toddler is a 24/7 nurser .

You could try night sessions, 20min. I find drinking water while pumping helps me letdown better.

If their premie is still in the nicu, you should consult her pediatrician before using supplements.

I agree. Preemies need milk that's more rich in fat and other goodies that colustrum provides. Not sure if milk that is balanced out for an older baby would be as nutritious for a preemie baby. Also, there may be foods the baby might be allergic to (soy, dairy, etc.) in your milk that may give him/her more gas. However, if the doctor/pediatrician says it's okay, then go for it.
