Rug for childs hardwood bedroom floor?
DS's current bedroom is carpeted. House was purchased this way. One room has carpet, one hardwood, and ours has pergo flooring. Don't ask me why they are all different...!
DS's current room is smaller, and in the middle of one side of the house. Stays nice and warm and cozy. The room next to that one is going to be his new (bigger) room and baby will go in the smaller room. We were thinking of putting down a nice big rug in the middle of the room to both help keep it a little warmer and make it cozier for floor playtime. The rugs we have looked at in places like Lowes and Menards are running upwards of about $200 for a nice floor rug that's around 8 x 10 or so. Is this the norm? Where else do you look? We don't want a small rug, or a really "kid" looking rug as we'd like it to be in there for awhile. Do you use a rug on your kids wood floor bedroom? If so, where did you buy it and are you happy with it? I've thought about looking at CL, but worried about pet accidents, kids vomiting onto the rug when they have the flu, etc. It kind of skeeves me out to buy a use one, it seems like used carpeting to me.

We have hardwood floors and I have rugs in both of my children's rooms. Do you have an Ikea? They have some nice rugs that aren't too crazy in price. I'd also check Target.

Urban Outfitters has some really great rugs and the prices are reasonable. I think shipping is free right now too.

Re: Rug for childs hardwood bedroom floor?
I like IKEA for rugs, they're decent quality and cheap enough that I don't stress too much about them getting ruined. messy, etc. by my kids.

We don't have an ikea anywhere around us, I'm not sure about urban outfitters. I will check target. I love amazon but not for something like this where I can't check out the quality in person. 5x8 is too small for the room I think, we want most of the center floor covered.

It doesn't look the greatest, but my parents run a carpeting business and we just take left over pieces from installation jobs. IDK how much a carpet store would charge for a little piece but it might be worth looking into. You might get a sizeable piece for $50. A lot of the times they will take anything they can get for reminants, since a lot of that goes to waste anyway

Re: Rug for childs hardwood bedroom floor?
I also like IKEA, but I've had trouble finding rugs larger than 5x8. Overstock is usually good. Once you pass the 5x8 range though, they do start getting dramatically pricier in general
