Help with gift ideas for grandparents
I need some thrifty but awesome gifts for my grandparents. They are simply amazing. They are very generous people, super kind, and on and on. I could never spend as much on them as they do us. BUT I still try to make their gifts meaningful. Problem is, what do you get for someone who has everything they want, or has the money to go get it if they want it? I'm running out of creative ideas after 30 years LOL. So, anyone got any ideas?
ETA: They are not re-usable type people. They think I'm a little loopy for my cloth everything and reusable everything, but they love me anyway. However, they wouldn't use much reusable stuff. Well, they'd use reusable tote bags, but that is about it. They are upper class, retired, late 60's.

Re: Help with gift ideas for grandparents
This year we're doing handmade ornaments. Last year was a custom calendar from Costco with all of the grandbaby photos. My mom cried! Tons of other custom photo options if you haven't done it yet - mugs, mousepads, throw blankets, ornaments etc...
I also came across an old project I did in middle school with old family recipes. I don't even remember making it, but according to the descriptions I wrote, they have special meaning. I'd like to make a few things from there like the ranger cookies she learned to make with her mom. We don't have a lot of money to spend, and they can already buy anything they want. So I don't worry about the dollar amount. Instead I go for the emotional value. A visit and something simple is all they want. |

Re: Help with gift ideas for grandparents
I would have the kids makes some artwork to frame and give them. Go to dollar tree for some ideas and frames.

My grandparents sound like yours, lol. I am having a very hard time this year too, thinking of sending an empty frame that I will update with a family photo including the newby as soon as I can manage to get one
. A couple of years ago I quilted an advent calendar and wrote out cutesy tags for every day for each of them (red ribbon=g'ma green=g'pa) that had childhood memories we shared or things I love, admire or appreciate about them. Thy still use it every year and I went to head grandchild status it was a huge hit, they got to brag to their friends...

Re: Help with gift ideas for grandparents
I bake their favorite cookies.
The kids make a handprint calendar. A fruit of the month gift. Pictures of them with grandbabies. Handknitted scarf or hat. |

Re: Help with gift ideas for grandparents
Every year my grandparents get one of the shutterfly calendars with pictures of the kids. They LOVE and have told me how much they look forward to getting the new one every year.

Re: Help with gift ideas for grandparents
We make a photo calendar every year for grandparents and they love it. Snapfish had a sale where you could buy 1 get 2 free.
