It's funny, but the more kids you have, the less you can manage them all 100% of the time, and the more crap they manage to get into. They get older, sneakier, and quicker. So you're like, "AAAAAH! Don't!!!!....." And before you can get there, in the moth it goes!

My friend used to babysit a girl who would eat seed pods from the trees outside. If my friend turned for one second, the little girl would fall to the ground and start shoveling them in her mouth as fast as she could. My friend would say "Noooooo!" and the little girl would RUN away and be trying to chew and swallow as fast as she could. It was hilarious to watch!

Eventually, you just figure they're probably okay. And if not, you'll (hopefully) see some symptoms before they die so you can get some help to save them. I realize that sounds crazy, but that's how I think of it anyway.

Kids are such fun!
haha, no I didn't think you were mocking me at all, I just have 3 boys that seem to put everything in their mouths! I grew up with sisters, and for some reason, we didn't eat things. But my boys have licked deodorant, had a throwing fight with laundry detergent, licked soap, and I am sure I am forgetting some other things. Anytime I had called poison control, it was fine, so I didn't know if I call for stuff that most people wouldn't, and they think I am the crazy lady lol! They also seem to put things up their noses/ in their ears, which I just don't understand!! I had to use tweezers to pull a bead out of my toddler's nose a few months ago!!

No, it's just a little dye. It's not good, but not so toxic it'll effect him.

AHAHAHA!

See? I wasn't even counting soap. I figure it must just clean their insides out. Maybe they will fart some bubbles. Sorry that was gross.

Soap is probably on my list at least 3 times. I am more like, "THANK GOD! It was just soap. Whew. Glad it wasn't the (fill-in-the-blank)!" Then I force them to drink like 3 glasses of water and go lay down.

LOL... it will not even come close to the worst thing he'll eat.

Btw, I just made the tissue paper trees with my daycare kids today. It didn't look as good as the pinterest one. Pinterest makes me feel like an underachiever.

And two kids ate the green paper.

Re: Would you call poison control for this?

Nah. One of my kids (I can't remember which one now), was always eating paper. Never had an issue (pediatrician said not to worry about it, that it was a phase).

I called poison control for:
Lipstick
nail polish remover
pills

The lipstick they said he'd be fine. The nail polish remover they said it tastes so bad that he probably spilled more than he drank and so not to really worry about it unless he started vomiting.

And the pills, because of what they were, we were advised to go to the ER right away.

God bless!

No pun intended, right?!!

And, at the rest of the thread. I have 5 boys. (One is only 8wks. Only thing he's put in his mouth is boob! ) But, all the rest have eaten many, many things. My only daughter is about to turn 5 and still she puts tons of stuff in her mouth. Fortunately, we've never had to call poison control. Of course, there is still time since I still have 2 2 year olds and an 8 wk old. I'd like to think my almost 4 year olds and my 7 year old are passed putting anything poisonous in their months, but you really never know.

I ate a lot of things growing up (pica). You could apparently drink a whole bottle of Robatussin, and poison control didn't care when I was 3. My mom was just told not to let me go to sleep.
