Re: Talk to me about wool

You could try it without lanolizing, but it won't be the same, it will start to feel damp much sooner!! But if you lanolize now in 24 hours you will have it on her bum!! Make sure to take an action shot!! So excited for you!!! She ships super fast!!!

Sounds good thank you. They actually came in the mail Saturday but I haven't been home really to prep them. I'll wash and lanolize them today so we can start using them tomorrow. So excited!!! I've been alternating between too small fleece covers and pul because I don't have enough fleece.

My wool leaked. I must have done something wrong. I used four pea sized drops of lanolin for a soaker and a pair of longies. I guess I have to wash it and try again.

I use that kind of lanolin quite often and haven't had a problem. I would suggest just trying more lanolin. You can be pretty generous with it as long as you melt it in the hot water with the baby shampoo. Also, try upping the absorbency of the diaper you are using underneath with doublers etc.

I agree about upping the absorbency in the diaper under the wool.

I'm going to try again with more lanolin. I had her in a homemade fitted with a doubler so I don't know what happened. When the covers dry I guess I'll have to try a flat with a pad folded that inside because I don't have anything else other than the micro fleece topped doublets my grandmother made me. I want to get some work horses once I get some more money in my Paypal. The baby is sick though and has been comfort nursing nonstop so maybe she's just wetting more than usual today.

Yes they do and they are AWESOME!! Wool is great, but it can only absorb 30% of its weight in moisture (or in this case urine) so the diaper underneath needs to be very absorbant. The workhorses are my favorite!!!
